CUBA TRAVEL TIPS

Clothes
In Cuba is better to wear sport clothes. It is recommended to wear cotton t-shirts, shorts pants and sandals to be more comfortable. During winter season, which could be considered as a less intense summer, we recommend having a sweeter, mainly to use it at nights. Synthetic clothes are not recommended because they use to maintain humidity in the body.

Don't forget travel with your sunglasses, bathing suit and sun protection, because in Cuba there is an endless summer.

For going to a theatre, restaurant or simply enter in the cinema, you must know that entry is forbidden if wearing shorts pants or short sleeves t-shirts.


Food
Cuban food, know as "criolla" has a mixture of Spanish and African food. It's made with dishes such as rice and beans, called "moros y cristianos", fried or roasted pork with a special sauce, lobster, shrimps, a root called "yuca", which is delicious, among other very tasteful dishes.

In restaurants, all these Cuban dishes could be tasted at reasonable prices, although you can have also international food, pizzas, etc. In some restaurants, they have a set of complete menus called "descargas" or "tables".

There are small and private restaurants called "paladares" for around 20 persons, offering typical Cuban food.

Security in Cuba
Cuba is a very safe country, with a low criminality rate. Tourists are well received. Besides, for your security, there are policemen who are willing to help you if needed. Policemen use to be young men.


Health Regulations
There is no need to be vaccinated before traveling to Cuba. Most of hotels have medical services 24 hours a day, with doctors and nurses. In the main cities, there are specialized clinics for tourists.

Although water is potable everywhere, it is recommended to drink bottled water or using potables pills, thus avoiding to get a tropical disease. Your body must not be immunized from bacteria there.

Its recommended also to travel with a first aid kit where you include (it can be apply for any kind of trip) antibiotics, pills to cure diarrhea, and take the whole kit with your hand baggage, because you could lose your suitcase.

Anyway, you don’t have to worry about diseases in Cuba because there is a very well organized and efficient health system in Cuba, and international pharmacies.
